YOUTH PROGRAM - KAYAK COURSE

Course Outline

Youth Program ( age 11 – 16 )
Course Duration 6 hrs

This course is designed to develop a foundation set of base skills for the sport of kayaking.

Classroom / 1 hour

  • Introduction to gear and equipment
  • Video instruction

In the Pool / 2 hours

  • Foundation to hip flip skill
  • Eskimo rescue
  • Re-entry to kayak skills

On the water / 3 hours

  • Forward paddle skills
  • Kayak control / core and hip control
  • Edging and glide
  • Foundation to turn mechanics

This program can be developed into a multiday program that follows the same daily format
